Easter

Happy Easter to Everyone! I had a great Easter this year, I spent the morning relaxing at home while I made rolls and raspberry honey butter. Yum.... I use the Lion House recipe for the rolls, they are my favorite and best HOT out of the oven. Once the rolls were done I headed up to my parents house where Mikelle, Adam and crew came up from Payson. My mom had made a wonderful dinner, and a fantastic fruit tart for the treat! The Easter Bunny even stopped by and left some eggs through the back yard for Jamis and Raegan- It is fun to watch Jamis get so excited. Raegan wasn't so into the eggs but LOVED the basket grass, she played with that forever! Hope you all had a wonder Easter as well.....

On another note, the countdown is on..... 19 days-

Sunny Beaches, and Cool Drinks- yes please!

Friday Laughs in Bridal World

Carry laughter with you wherever you go. ~Hugh Sidey

I was sitting here thinking of funny little things in your life that make you laugh. Some of the best laughs are the times when you can sit back think about a situation and get a good laugh out of it. As many know I work part time in the Bridal World, some may not know that January, February and March are the very busiest months of the year in the 'dress part' of the bridal world. As a result we are always very crazy these three months, I must say that these three busiest months are not always the funnest, you have demanding people, long wait times of customers waiting to meet with you and your always running your little butt of and exhausted after long days. But these busy times also bring great rewards- the paychecks are very nice and you have lots of looking back and laughing. I love hearing what people have come up with for wedding ideas and themes and how there are going to carrier this out into their weddings. You do always get some great ideas, and of course you have some that you look back and wonder "what were they thinking". I have some great stories and moments to look back and laugh on. In a world where right now we have a lot of heartache, personal struggles and road blocks- look back at your moments and give life a second laugh!

On a different note, I ran across this funny little cartoon- it made me think back to great dating times. Didn't everyone do this in some way or another?

Cream Cheese Potato Soup

I love blogs that share new recipes, this is my favorite soup recipe- It has such a great taste to it. I made it the other night and every time I make it I love it all over, I love the taste of dill in it. Sorry I didn't take any pictures..... but make it and enjoy.

Cream Cheese Potato Soup

2 cans chicken broth
4 TBS butter
4 TBS flour
16 oz cream cheese
1 TBS dill weed
1/2 tsp pepper
3 cups shredded hash browns (I use the frozen hash browns)
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 1/2-3 cups milk
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp salt

In a large saucepan, combine broth and hash browns. Heat to a boil and then reduce to simmer, simmer for 5 minutes. In a large pot, melt the butter, add the onion and shredded carrots. Simmer for 3 minutes. Stir in the flour and make a roux. Cook for 1 minute. Add the mill and stir until thickened, add the cream cheese. Wisk to blend in. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Add the broth mixture and seasonings. Cook for 5 minutes.

Birthday Wishes!

So, I was able to celebrate another birthday this year- another year older! I was glad on Wednesday to have to earlier news of the week over so I could enjoy the day. I had a good birthday this year, I got a cute singing telegram sent to me on my phone. I had to post it because Munchkin was so stinkin' cute singing, he slowed the song down for a nice finish!

I was invited up to dinner at my parents and had a wonderful meal, and my favorite part the CAKE! My mom made a delicious Red Velvet cake from scratch.... yummy. This is my now favorite kind of cake (I wonder if that has something to do with the color?)

Thank you everyone for your kind Birthday wishes, it made my day.

Keep Moving On.....

This week has been a rough one- I am glad it is almost over. We had several meetings within the company on Monday, in those we learned due to current times the company had to make some changes to 'make it through' the year. Some of those smaller changes were cutting bonus, cutting extra expenses and cutting raises. Those are things that you don't like to see go because you look forward to, but you can deal with because you still have a job. The more drastic of the changes was that we learned that 10% of the company was going to be let go to cut expenses. This just puts a sick feeling in your stomach, no one wants to lose their job. To make things a little rougher on people they were not going to start letting go in our office until the next day, so you had to go home and think about it all Monday night. Tuesday was a very hard day as you sat and worked and hoped to not get the dreaded call from HR. It was also very sad to watch people and close friends that you have worked with for years, some since you started walk away and you knew they were coming back. I was glad when Tuesday was over, you felt like you could finally breathe again- but my thoughts are defiantly with those who lost their jobs that day.

Bah Humbug!!

I have been told that I need to update my blog, people are sick of reading my 'shout out' to SnapFish! I know have have been such a bad blogger, sorry- I can't believe it has been so long since I last posted. I have been in a little bit of a funk lately, it hasn't felt like Christmas this year. I am just not into it this year and I am not sure why that is, it could be that it feels like we just celebrated it last month. Maybe it could be that I have seen Christmas decorations on store shelves for the last 3 months, or listened to Christmas music for the past month and a half. I do have all my Christmas shopping done, but nothing wrapped- anyone want to do it for me? Anyways..... I have made a couple cute projects but can not yet post them because they are Christmas presents for a few lucky people. Anywho.... hope everyone one is have a very wonderful Holiday Season! Maybe I will wake up one of these days and get with it.......

Love snapfish!

I wanted to take a minute and give a HUGE thank you to snapfish! I went ahead and signed up for the free photo book that snapfish was giving away last week, I figured a free book and $6.99 for shipping what could you lose? Well I spent many hours picking just the right pictures and putting my book together and submitted the order on Sunday- well I got home today and my book was here! These books are amazing, I will be making more in the future!
Let me say how much fun this was to make, if people are not into scrapbooking or want a great way to put your pictures together- this is it. You can pick several fun backgrounds, different layouts and add your stories and captions to each page or photo- it is then bound into a beautiful keepsake book. As Christmas is coming up quickly- these would make fantastic gifts for family and friends. Check them out!! www.snapfish.com

Halloween..... come and gone!

Well, this year Halloween has been a good one- I can't believe it is already over and we have another year to wait! Yesterday was a fun day, I pulled out the witch costume again and wore it to work. My work always has a big day on Halloween, there are contests for Halloween trivia and best costumes, there were some cute costumes this year! My co-workers also bring their kids in to trick-or-treat, I love this because you get to see the cute families of people you work every day with. I have come to think this type of trick-or-treating is such a great idea- kids make out with a ton of candy and you don't have to walk outside in the cold! After work I headed up to my parents house for dinner, handed out some candy and then the highlight of the day.... I got to see my two favorite kids! Munchkin Man and Princess... they looked so stinking cute, my sister did a great job on their costumes this year. Hope your Halloween was also a good one!

What could be so hard about dating?

I would just like to start off by saying that dating sucks! Sorry to be so strong in my words.... Its funny as my friends and I have been playing this game of 'dating' for quite some time now, we often chat and will share experiences of 'stupid guys' we have met and gone out with or hope to go out with. I have found as you play this game of 'dating' you often have many on the sidelines offering words of advise.... "let him make the moves, guys don't like pushy girls", "times are different, guys find girls attractive that are assertive" and one of my favorites "he likes you but he thinks you aren't very interested". As the whole female population knows, girls tend to over evaluate EVERYTHING- one of my favorite shows to pull out and and watch from time to time is Sex and the City. I think everyone knows this show, I think I like it so much because the show is about 4 girls that are single and the challenges they face being single and playing this game of dating- I can often laugh while watching it because you can relate to so many of the situations, and dating experiences they have. One of my many favorite episodes is the famous "He's just not that into" episode. Really, if a guy doesn't like you why can't he just come right out and say it? Why does he need to drag you along with the "that was fun, let's go out again....." and then never call? As my girlfriends and I have talked over the years, I have come to realize that men and women really do speak different languages- and times when you think you are speaking so clear the message just never gets delivered! What do you need to do.... why are the girls that meet the boys and think they have made clear plans to go out that night sitting home ready when he is out with the boys instead? Maybe one of these days I will cross the finish line of the 'dating' game, but for now I sometimes wonder if the guys and the girls are playing with different rule books? For all the married girls that say to the single girls "you girls are so lucky to get to go out and have fun, travel to great places and not have to worry about a boring life" I'll trade ya!

Halloween Fun!!

This past weekend I had some Halloween fun.... I am being all festive this year! On Friday night I was invited to go see Odyssey Dance Theatre's Thriller, amazing! This has been one of those shows you hear about each year and always say you want to go see it and never do... well put it on your list for next year! My dear friend Amelia that I work with at David's has an incredibly talented daughter that dances, she tried out and made the Thriller cast this year. The show was so creative and wonderfully done, I was entertained and laughed throughout. It is a new Halloween tradition.
Saturday night I got to go out with the girls, my sweet friend Kim found us a happening Halloween Costume Party. I spent an entertaining evening with Kim and Christy, I personally think we looked great!

I love to people watch and we found a Halloween party is a great place to do this, I think Halloween sometimes gives people an opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and be someone different for a night. Also, if you ever saw these people again on the street.... would you really be able to reconize them? There were some fantastic costumes, I was impressed- have you ever heard of Captain Speedo? Well.... he was there- we met him! Anyways.... Halloween is only 2 days away- hope everyone is having as much fun as I am this year with Halloween!

Happy Halloween!!

A chicken but of course!! Munchkin got his bag today in the mail, it sounded like he is pretty dang excited about the chicken trick or treat bag. I am so glad.... I can't wait to see him dressed up on Halloween. Also, the farmer will have other animals featured from his farm- lil princess is going to be the little lamb. Munchkin, sound like you are going to be a pretty good farmer!!

Merry Thanksgivoween!

Isn't this getting to be so true? As I am out shopping about this time of year I can't help but wonder what happened to each holiday having their own store time? I used to remember about getting so excited once Halloween was done because Christmas things would start to trickle into stores. Now it seems that Christmas things go out almost the same time as Halloween, come on people.... each holiday needs their own chance!
On another note.... I got Munchkin Man's trick or treat bag finished and in the mail to him. It turned out super cute, I can't wait to see him with it on Halloween. No one has guessed it right yet, I will post pictures once he gets it. Funny thing that surprised me as I went to mail it today- I was at the Downtown Salt Lake Post Office and it is going to Payson, UT (about an hour away) the kind man asked me how I wanted to mail it, regular mail or priority mail? I asked him what the difference was... regular mail would take 4 days, yes thats right 4 DAYS to go an hour away! People could walk there faster, Crazy! Priority mail was was a speedy 2 days, I opted for Priority Mail- Munchkin Man watch your mailbox on Friday!! After that trip to the post office it reminded me of why people don't use 'snail mail' anymore.

Halloween!!

I love Halloween!! It is such a fun holiday, and who doesn't love the chance to dress up as something fun each year. Our office always has a large Halloween party and everyone dresses up, and co-workers bring their kids to trick-or-treat. It seems like Halloween keeps getting to be a bigger holiday each year, I love it!
Now, what would Halloween be with out trick-or-treating? Every kid needs a cute bag to take- I remember growing up we had a large cloth pumpkin my mom had made. That fun memory still sticks with my today. When Munchkin Man was little I thought he needed this same fun memory, when I set out to find a pattern to make him a pumpkin bag I could not find one anywhere! So, I came up with my own pattern- over the past couple years I have made pumpkins and bats for him and many others. Well, the pumpkin he has is a little small so it is time to graduate up to a bigger bag- Munchkin Man is going to be a farmer this year for Halloween, so it seemed appropriate that he had a bag to coordinate with his farmer costume. It is in the works, Munchkin is getting a custom one of a kind bag. So..... what will it be? What would coordinate with a farmer? Post your guesses now..... once the bag is done I will post a picture.
